Abstract
Entries are now open for The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) 2020 skills competitions where students can compete in nine categories.

The skills competitions will be held at the University of Warwick on 7 and 8 April 2020 featuring three new categories including the Breakfast Challenge, the Vegan Challenge and the Love British Food Challenge. Entries for the nine categories close on 31 January 2020.

In 2019 a flat entry fee of £275 was introduced for the whole institution- no matter how many categories you enter. The fee includes two night’s accommodation with breakfast and dinner for each competitor. The Salon Culinaire remains free to enter.

One of the new challenges is the Vegan Challenge that requires chefs to cook two portions of a vegan dish that will appeal to vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.

The Cook & Serve Challenge is a three-person team event that relies on good communication. Teams must work together to create a three-course lunch with 'good attention to detail'.

The Chefs’ Challenge involves a mystery box that chefs must devise a menu from using only these items.
