Wafflemeister launches first airport site at Heathrow Terminal 4
Abstract
Wafflemeister has partnered with TRG Concessions (TRGC) to launch its first ever airport site at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 4.

The new venue serves Wafflemeister’s Liége waffles, with a variety of toppings and a selection of gelato flavours. The company aims to open more sites in the next 24 months. Wafflemeister was founded in 2009 with the aim of providing ‘original great tasting waffles to everyone’.

It is now the largest provider of waffles in the UK wholesale market, selling over 50 million waffles a year from over 10,000 locations in the hospitality, contract catering, education, travel and healthcare sectors. Wafflemeister operates at 24 locations across the UK including Legoland, Alton Towers, Bluestone Resort and Butlins.

The menu at Heathrow will cater for the full range of travelling customers, including freshly baked pastries with option to dip into melted Belgium chocolate, fruit pots, a new range of handmade on-site toasties as well as coffee and a full drinks range.

The opening is a partnership TRGC, the specialist UK travel food and drink division of The Restaurant Group (TRG), which operates brands such as Giraffe, Wagamama and BrewDog at airports across the UK including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester.

Rikos Leong-Son, chief executive of Wafflemeister, said: “Opening our first site at Heathrow is a milestone moment for our brand. Heathrow is one of the world’s busiest international airports, and we’re proud to bring travellers a taste of our wonderful waffles, made with love as well as our full range of all-day products.

“Wafflemeister has always enjoyed a diverse range of customers, and we have always attracted customers from all over the world. So it always made sense to open in the place where they served the most travellers. Airports are traditionally known for their functional food range.

“We firmly believe that our range of treats can put a bit more fun back into travelling, and I couldn’t think of anything better than an indulgent treat before taking off on holiday or a sneaky grab and go. We have always been in the business of making smiles, and now we get a chance to add a smile to Heathrow.”
