Abstract
An army of staff and volunteers helped to deliver over 2m free school meals to families across the Caerphilly county borough since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Caerphilly Council ensured that eligible children received healthy and nutritious food parcels that were sent direct to their doorstep. Around 100 volunteers delivered over 36,000 meals a week to the 7,298 children who were eligible for free school meals.

Cllr Sean Morgan, leader of council said: “With so many families currently experiencing the devastating effects of the cost-of-living crisis, I’m proud to see that our free school meal programme has made such a positive difference to so many people.

“Seeing volunteers from across the council and our partner agencies working together to support our residents, in what has been a huge logistical task, truly embodies the Team Caerphilly ethos and I would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts.”
