Westminster Kingsway College launches new chefs course

The School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts at Westminster Kingsway College is launching an intensive International Culinary Diploma course for people from the UK and all over the world.
The aim of this fast-track course is to present students with an understanding of culinary arts and the classical skills required to work in the top professional kitchens of the world. Students will work towards the college culinary arts certificate and professional cookery qualifications including a City and Guilds diploma Level 2 in professional cookery and they will benefit from: expert teaching, excellent kitchen facilities, specialist training in patisserie, butchery, baking and food preparation and access to the college's virtual kitchen. All applicants will be assessed via an interview for the intensive professional chefs course but the application process will take into consideration their education achievements and any work experience. The programme is also open to applicants from overseas and the course fee is £10,000 inclusive of all College tuition. The intensive course runs for 24 weeks and the first course begins in November 2010. Students can progress onto higher level study in culinary arts or hospitality management or into employment in the hospitality industry in the UK and overseas. Geoff Booth, assistant principal, School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality at Westminster Kingsway College, said: "This exciting new course brings together the expertise in Culinary Arts held by our team of Chef Lecturers and our excellence in teaching in Hospitality into an intensive programme for those who would like to succeed in this fast moving industry. "This is a unique opportunity to gain practical industry training and we are particularly pleased to launch this programme in our centenary year."
