The KaterVeg! VG sausage is a source of protein and is high in fibre and low in sugar. It is suitable for vegan and gluten-free diners, which means it’s a versatile product to add to any menu.
Made from soya, the VG sausage is the latest in a number of vegan and vegetarian products available from frozen food distributor Central Foods to the public service sector. The range includes vegan meatballs, vegan burgers, vegan sausage rolls and vegan mince.
Gordon Lauder, managing director of Central Foods, said: “Our KaterVeg! vegan and gluten-free meatballs are hugely popular, particularly with our public sector catering customers.
“Because of this, we decided to add a vegan and gluten-free sausage to our range, made to the exact same recipe as the vegan meatballs. This gives our customers more choice and flexibility when it comes to what they can serve to their plant-based and coeliac customers.
“There continues to be significant demand for meat and dairy-free options, as well as gluten-free products, and the new KaterVeg! VG sausage is a perfect addition to any menu to help satisfy this demand.”
Serve the KaterVeg! VG sausage plated with veg, salad, or baked, boiled, mashed or chipped potatoes, or in a bread carrier.
Each sausage weighs 50g and the sausages are supplied frozen in packs of 40 for convenience. For best results, always cook from frozen. Either oven cook on a baking tray for 15-18 minutes or grill for 13-15 minutes.
KaterVeg! is Central Foods own-brand of meat-free and vegetable-based products which it supplies across the catering sector, including to public sector caterers. All are suitable for vegetarians, many are also suitable for vegans, and a growing number are suitable for both vegans and coeliacs who require gluten-free options.
