Abstract
Understanding the need and importance of filtration to protect the quality equipment such as coffee, espresso machines and boilers is crucial. Darren Bradford, UK sales and quality manager at Allpure Filters, reports.

Protection of equipment is paramount to ensure that the machine is protected from the daily elements and to ensure that the vending drink exceeds the customer’s perception of what they expect to receive, achieved through improvements of the mains feed water by removing contaminants, poor taste and smell.

The drink is more that ‘just consumed’, it is often an experience, especially with the great public relation exercise all our coffee houses and cafes now bring to us on a daily basis – the now educated public expect quality in a cup and won’t settle with a standard coffee. You will know from your own understanding that if enjoyed, the sales will increase as customers will return for more.

Allpure Filters prides itself in being the European Distributor for Omnipure; who produce a wide range of quality products to clean, reduce and remove contamination, treat hardness levels through quality media and bespoke cartridge solutions. Last year we were able to increase filter options by becoming a major distributor of 3M / Cuno products to add to our portfolio of well established products such as Fairey Ceramic and John Guest, to name just a few.

Our range of filters stretches wide and far, from simple cost effective disposable inline filters offering the ease of change without the increased shipping costs (increased carbon footprint of reprocessing spent cartridges) and moving through to heavier use sites which then can use the larger calcium treatment units as this then is often more cost effective and a better option in some cases.

Customers have a wide range of choice to suit their style of operation and after sales maintenance service. Beware of cheap filters which don’t give you the reliability or the protection you need – it is often better to choose a quality brand with a quality reputation.

Our latest filter range includes Omnipure, 3M / Cuno, and combine the new Food Service ELF 10” and ELFXL 15” disposable cartridges designed for coffee, espresso and boiler scale protection as well as a Commerical Reverse Osmosis System with 1 year filter change out – both depending on water quality and throughput.

We also have specialist machine install rails which incorporates a double check valve with pressure relief and isolation point and pressure-reducing valve to safeguard installations and meet Water Authority guidelines.
