Abstract
Live events caterer Amadeus has launched its latest food and beverage offering at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, as the business’ live events calendar gears up for Christmas.

SK Coffee & Bakehouse is an artisan barista coffee shop that serves freshly baked cakes by Amadeus’ in-house chefs. There are two SK & Bakehouse outlets based on the NEC’s atrium plaza, as well as mobile units designed for in-hall catering.

Kane Bridgman, general manager for Amadeus at the NEC, said: “We wanted to showcase the best of what we can offer at the NEC – a barista coffee shop with a bakehouse style experience – giving visitors an out of hall experience where they can take the time to enjoy a delicious coffee.

“Our homemade cakes have been a particular hit for customers, already helping to generate more than £33,000 revenue since opening. Our bakery produces in excess of 185,000 portions of home baked cake each year to keep up with demand, with our signature lemon drizzle proving the most popular.”

Amadeus caterers for seven million visitors a year at the NEC Group’s five venues as well as more than 30 venues across the UK.

Linda Ritchie, general manager at the NEC, concluded: “SK Coffee & Bakehouse is just another example of how we’re continually trying to innovate and provide the best possible offerings for our customers. Amadeus has done a fantastic job in bringing the bakehouse to life, giving customers more choice and flexibility than ever before.”
