Aviko on the hunt for great British breakfast
Abstract
Potato specialist Aviko is on the lookout for the nation’s best morning fuel with the launch of its Great British Breakfast Competition this week.

Chefs, caterers and operators are given the chance to have their dishes crowned victorious simply by visiting www.greatbritishbreakfast.co.uk and sharing – in no more than 50 words – what it is that makes their breakfast great.

With on-the-go a key trend in the breakfast market alongside traditional options, Aviko’s Great British Breakfast Competition has two categories – Best Hot Breakfast and Best Breakfast Bap – with the champion of each winning a weekend for two people in London with breakfast at The Wolsely.

Mohammed Essa, General Manager UK and Ireland, Aviko, explains: “The breakfast and brunch market is booming – almost a third of people choose to eat it out-of-home at least once a week* - so it creates an exciting opportunity for operators and their customers to try something different.

“We want to showcase and reward those operators that are making the most of this demand and taking their menus to the next level in innovation, whether that’s with unique presentation ideas, interesting flavour combinations or even using eggs from their own hens! What better reward for their efforts than a short break in the epicentre of the UK dining scene and sampling an iconic breakfast at The Wolsely!”

The Great British Breakfast Competiton is open for entries from 6th July until midnight on 9th October 2015 and forms part of Aviko’s Great British Breakfast campaign, which has been developed to support operators with what is widely considered to be the most important meal of the day.

Essa continued: “Caterers who carefully consider their morning menus and tap into the growing breakfast market can really profit. An easy win is to include items such as hash browns, which have become a staple of the great British breakfast with 68% of people expecting them to be included and 80% willing to pay 50p more for them. They provide an important opportunity for caterers to deliver the breakfast of champions.”
