Abstract
Beacon, a leading purchasing solutions business in the UK hospitality, leisure and healthcare sectors, has appointed Steven Henderson as its new managing director.

Prior to joining Beacon, Henderson’s career has seen him tackle major consultancy projects both in the UK and internationally covering a wide variety of initiatives ranging from brand development in the leisure, hotel and restaurant sectors to national and global procurement strategies.

For the past seven years, Henderson has worked with Hilton Worldwide, latterly in the role of senior director of International Purchasing and Supply, which saw him develop a new central procurement team for all of Hilton’s properties around the world, excluding the Americas. This team, working out of 15 regional offices, was responsible for the operational purchasing and supply chain for 550 hotels in 80 countries.

Richard Lewis, chief executive of Interchange & Consort Hotels, Beacon’s parent company said: “Steven Henderson is an outstanding leader with extensive experience in providing procurement solutions to businesses in our industry. We’re delighted to have attracted someone of his calibre to lead the Beacon team. His proven track record in developing strategies that help businesses maximise their profitability will have a big impact on taking Beacon to the next level.”

Henderson added: “I’m very happy to be joining a strong organisation like Beacon. We have an excellent team in place and a host of new customer-facing initiatives that we will be launching in the coming months. In this economic climate, more and more companies are looking to maximise the efficiency of their business and it’s going to be exciting matching their needs with our solutions.”
