Abstract
Little Chef's iconic mascot is to receive the Heston Blumenthal treatment to resemble the famous chef.
The makeover follows Blumenthal's revamp of the chain's Popham branch, televised on Channel 4's 'Big Chef Takes On Little Chef'. 'Fat Charlie' is being given a proper chef's jacket and a pair of glasses but is sticking to his chubby appearance, however, after customers rejected suggestions of slimming him down. Blumenthal's menu will be rolled out to Little Chef restaurants in York and Kettering next week with a follow-up of the TV series to be broadcast on Channel 4 later this year. Little Chef chief executive Ian Pegler said the show "was a huge hit and the fact that there has been so much interest in a further episode and what happens next is a great indication of how fondly the media and the public view Little Chef".
