8th Jul 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Staff from specialist London catering company Vacherin has raised over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation after taking part in the London to Brighton bike ride.
Mark Philpott, Clive Hetherington and Hamish Thorn all three made it to Brighton in just under five hours in time for tea and cake. Managing director of Vacherin, Mark Philpott, said: "The ride was tougher than expected – no-one warned me about Ditchling Beacon - but we all made it to Brighton in one piece which was a bonus! We are delighted to be able to donate over £1,000 to such a worthwhile cause." Cardiovascular disease is one of the main causes of death in people under 75 in the UK. The British Heart Foundation plays a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation, with an aim to change these statistics.
