The PSC Alliance offers a collaborative forum and lobbying voice on issues of common interest across education, health and social care, prisons and the military. He takes over as vice chair after Anita Brown moved up to take on the chair's role earlier this year.
The role requires a commitment to act as vice chair from May 2026 to December 2028 then as chair from December 2028-30. The vice chair role is largely in place to advise and support the chair when developing and recommending key decisions.
In his day job, Robertson is the catering operations manager at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. He recently completed his time in office as HCA chair, being succeeded by Nicola Strawther.
One of his main focus areas as HCA chair was to make the association more inclusive and, in particular, attract younger catering leaders to ensure it is truly representative of the health and social care sector, which has seen huge changes over the past decade.
Speaking about his appointment, Robertson said: “Having worked my entire career in the public sector starting in the military before working for the last 27 years in healthcare catering, I am delighted to have been elected as vice chair of the PSC Alliance.
“During my time as national chair of the Hospital Caterers Association, I was fortunate to work alongside the other industry organisations and saw firsthand how we share a lot of challenges. The PSC Alliance brings those voices together and gives a platform to speak on behalf of the whole public sector.”
