Chief executive of NEC Group named Inspiring Leader

Paul Thandi, chief executive of The NEC Group - parent company to Amadeus – has been named Birmingham’s Inspiring Leader 2011 at the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) annual event.
Thandi was awarded for his outstanding contribution towards mentoring the region's young people. He commented on his win: "Being an inspiring leader is not something I can do without those around me – having a great team behind me means everything." "I have always been a firm believer in investing in our future – today's young professionals, will be the drivers of tomorrow and we must continue to support them. BYPY is a fantastic platform from which to do that, and I'm honoured to be recognised by such a great group of people, who will no doubt become inspiring leaders themselves." Bina Ganatra, BYPY chairman, added: "Paul is an extremely worthy winner of our Inspiring Leader award for 2011. His work at the NEC Group has driven the organisation forward while influencing young professionals within our community, a change that can be measured through its employees, colleagues and in business." BYPY is an awards ceremony that recognises and rewards individuals within Birmingham's business community for their commitment and dedication towards the success of the city. The event was held on Thursday 19 May.
