Coed Du Hall Hospital celebrates double gold with Food for Life Catering Mark
Abstract
Coed Du Hall Hospital, Mold, has announced that it has achieved the Soil Association Gold Food for Life Catering Mark award as well as head chef Stephanie Steel winning the Catering Mark Awards for Excellence Champion 2015 in the hospital sector.

The Catering Mark recognises food providers who prepare meals using fresh, seasonal, local and organic ingredients. It provides reassurance that the food Coed Du Hall serves meets high standards of traceability, freshness and provenance.

Stephanie Steel said: "It is a real honour to have won both these awards and we are delighted to have achieved Gold standard on first application.

“I have fantastic suppliers and it is a pleasure to cook with the quality products that are available in this area.”

Rich Watts, senior catering mark manager at the Soil Association said; “Coed du Hall is pioneering good food in hospitals – one of the places where it is most needed.

“Steph Steel was crowned as our Catering Mark Champion for hospitals at the awards in June, highlighting her hard work and commitment to the people she cooks for.

“Coed du Hall is leading the way when it comes to hospital food and its innovation and determination to improve food served to patients and staff should be a benchmark for other organisations across the country.”

The Soil Association’s Food for Life Catering Mark provides an independent endorsement that food providers are taking steps to improve the food they serve, using fresh ingredients, which are free from undesirable additives and trans fats, are better for animal welfare, and comply with national nutrition standards.
