Abstract
Compass Group UK & Ireland has raised a staggering £1 million for Cancer Research UK.

This milestone was reached during the Wimbledon fortnight when Compass held its second annual Wimbledon Charity Ball at the Gatsby Club - one of the venues where Compass provides hospitality at The Championships Wimbledon.

The money raised from the Wimbledon Charity Ball will go directly towards supporting the research careers of two promising Cancer Research UK funded Cambridge Research Institute PhD students, Elke Van Oudenhove and Sarah Jurmeister.

Compass Group UK & Ireland’s Group managing director, Ian Sarson, said: “I am exceptionally proud that we have now raised £1 million to support the important work of Cancer Research UK. I was bowled over by the support we’ve received to help Cancer Research UK in its fight against cancer and I would like to personally thank everyone who has helped us raise money for this extremely worthwhile cause.

“The Wimbledon Charity Ball was a great night with exceptional food and service. It was brilliant to see so many people from across the industry come together to show their support and I’m delighted that we managed to raise over £80,000 on the night."

Claire Rowney, head of corporate partnerships, Cancer Research UK added: “What an amazing night! Compass surpassed themselves at the Wimbledon Ball with a fantastic night of entertainment, fundraising and fun. The Ball and events like it have a huge impact on the work of Cancer Research UK and help us to save lives every day. We couldn’t be happier to work in partnership with Compass, and look forward to more successes in the future.”
