Contractor Creativevents wins £5m Brooklands Museum deal

18th May 2012 - 00:00
Abstract
Catering services provider Creativevents, has gained a new five-year contract from Brooklands Museum worth nearly £5 million.
It is an early extension mid-way through the initial three-year contract awarded to Creativevents in 2010 which sees the company looking after all public catering and on-site hospitality for the museum. Museum director Allan Winn said: "It was an easy and logical decision to award Creativevents this five-year extension, as they have brought nothing short of a revolution to our catering and hospitality at Brooklands Museum. "Within a very quick time from taking over, they got to grips with the issues and delivered the bespoke offering and standards of delivery promised in the tendering process. "As a result, we have seen like-for-like sales figures rise beyond our expectations, with public catering up by 49% in the first year and their unique retail experience now delivering an extra £100k from outdoor 'pop-up' catering at our special events. "Hospitality sales in the first 12 months were up 45% and previously lost clients have returned to us, mostly through word-of-mouth recommendations." John Uphill, hospitality and special events catering director at Creativevents, said: "We are thrilled to gain this new extension from Brooklands Museum and we are now working with the Museum to completely refurbish the hospitality suites to a high period standard. "The Museum exhibits, which include the Concorde Experience, are amazing and well received by corporate, social and wedding parties but the suites themselves are in need of refreshing. "This has also given us an opportunity to upgrade the AV facilities, heating and ventilation in the charming 105-year-old Clubhouse." With more than 130,000 public visitors including group tours, enthusiasts and school groups last year, plus tens of thousands of hospitality, conference and function guests, Brooklands Museum remains a national treasure capturing the spirit and energy of motorsport and aviation with its fascinating historic aircraft, car and motorcycle collections, and the newly opened London Bus Museum. Brooklands offers public catering at the Sunbeam Café as well as hospitality and meeting room facilities equipped for events and parties with a maximum capacity of 400 people.
