Creed achieves environmental standard in just five months

19th Aug 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Creed Foodservice has achieved the environmental standard ISO 14001 just five months after committing to attain it.
Working with Gloucestershire based environmental consultancy Envesca, Creed was able to pull all of its long standing environmental commitments into one cohesive system, enabling it to achieve the standard in record time. The Standard was awarded by ISOQAR, who carried out the final audits and awarded the recognised standard. ISOQAR are UKAS accredited specialists in certification to ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 & BRC Food/Packaging for SMEs. Sustainability director Phil Creed said: "As a business we have a long track record in caring for the environment so we weren't approaching this from a blank sheet of paper. Envesca helped us pull together the many things that we were doing and document them all as part of a cohesive system. "We've always encouraged our employees to get fully behind our environmental initiatives, actively encouraging them to put forward ideas. Our employee handbook has been developed detailing everything we do so that everyone knows and understands how, what and why. "As well as achieving the standard, we continue to invest in the latest technology across the business to ensure we reduce, recycle and reuse wherever possible driving down our carbon footprint. It's an on-going business focus, but we're very proud of how far we've come."
