23rd Mar 2012 - 00:00
Abstract
The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs has launched its annual search for Young Chef of the Year, which is challenging the next generation of head chefs to demonstrate their passion, flair and expertise.
The competition is open to all chefs under the age of 27 who are currently working in Chaîne des Rôtisseurs' establishments across Great Britain. The winner will be going on to compete in the International Finals being held in Berlin in September 2012. The deadline for the competition is 4th May. Nominated by their Chaîne des Rôtisseurs employer, candidates are assessed at a regional level, after which the most impressive contestants are invited to pit their skills at the national finals, taking place at the Food Services Wing, Worthy Down, on 12 June 2012. Finalists will be required to prepare a three-course menu for four people and will be judged on presentation, originality and taste with consideration also given to general kitchen skills and approach to food hygiene. Philip Evins, Bailli Délégué for the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs said: "The central aim of the Young Chef of the Year Competition is to nurture and support the next generation of talent in the hospitality industry. "It's essential to not only encourage the training of our young chefs, but to give them the chance to demonstrate their skill and passion before some of the finest chefs in the country – each of whom are keen to encourage the future lifeblood of the industry." The winner of the 2012 Rôtisseurs Young Chef of the Year title will go on to compete against other national winners at the International Rôtisseurs Competition, which takes place in Berlin on 14 September 2011.
