Abstract
The event, hosted by Food Allergy Aware & Blake Morgan, will explore a fictional scenario of food allergic and coeliac customers being served food that has been labelled incorrectly.

The ‘mock trial’ event aims to explore the legal responsibilities of catering to customers with food allergies and the consequences of getting it wrong. The event will take place on 26 May 2021 from 8:30-4:30pm.

Everyone involved in the food industry has a legal responsibility to ensure the products they supply are correctly described and safe to consume. Failure to control risk in food safety can result in a criminal prosecution regardless of whether any harm has been caused.

During the ‘mock trial’ you (the delegates) will assist the judge in conducting the sentencing exercise and applying the guidelines for sentencing that came into force in February 2016.

Alison Cullin-Woodcock, who attended a ‘mock trial’ event in March 2019, said: “Fabulous learning & education- truly inspirational & so many take-aways.”
