Free-to-attend School Food Show to take place in July
Abstract
School caterers, managers and contract caterers can attend the largest national event dedicated to school meals titled the ‘School Food Show’ at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 7-8th July free-of-charge.

With caterers facing a greater challenge than ever before to deliver the right meal at the right price, the School Food Show will provide visitors with the ideal environment in which to meet suppliers and manufacturers who can offer products and solutions to help them.

The School Food Show is an unrivalled opportunity to source new ideas and innovations and compare a range of suppliers under one roof. Over 160 exhibitors will showcase food and beverages, equipment, systems and services.

Visitors will be able to watch the live School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) final taking place with the winner being revealed at the Awards for Excellence dinner on the evening of Wednesday 8th July. Ten regional final winners alongside two wildcards have been selected for the national final.

The three finalists of the Grab N Go Challenge will battle it out live on Tuesday 7th July cooking their item in a competition environment to decide the winner who will be announced later that evening. The winner will showcase their winning dish on the live demonstration stage on Wednesday 8th July.

Finishing Touches, a culinary salon organised by The School Food People in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs, has opened for entries with six new classes. The competition, which is sponsored by McDougalls from Premier Foods, has 14 categories open for entry.

The School Food Exhibition will be joining The School Food Show celebrating 120 years of free school meals. Visitors can explore a fascinating journey through the history of school food, from its early beginnings in welfare provision to today’s modern, nutritious school lunches.

Matt Tebbutt and Amber Francis will deliver cooking demonstrations to visitors of the School Food Show this summer. The informative workshop sessions will also return offering practical advice on key operational issues, the impact of new legislation and best practice case studies.

School caterers, managers and contract caterers can register for free here.
