15th Jun 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Harrison Catering got to showcase its healthy school meals menu to two special guests last week when it prepared lunch for a couple of visiting members from the Mayor Boris Johnson's office.
Chair of London Food Rosie Boycott and Strategic Project Manager Claire Pritchard visited three schools in south London on Thursday 10th June on behalf of Johnson and his commitment to healthy eating in schools and the elimination of child obesity. The duo sampled Harrison's lunches at Corpus Christi Catholic School, Trent Road London, St Anne's R C Primary School, 6 Durham Street, London and Ravenstone School, Ravenstone St, Balham. Harrison Catering, who specialize in providing fresh ingredients prepared on site and tailor its menus to provide a bespoke service to schools say they have seen an uptake of school meals in many of its Local Authority contracts. In Wandsworth uptake has topped 57% under Harrison's catering, beating the average of just 44%. In Lambeth the company has prompted an uptake of more than 70%. The catering service provider also provides school meals for schools in Southwark, Bexley and Ealing. Gareth Harrison, Director of Group Business for Harrison Catering said: "We are delighted to have had this opportunity to show the Mayors office what Harrison offers schools and we share the Mayor's commitment to healthy eating in schools."
