Hospital Caterers Association to host webinar on British procurement
Abstract
The Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) has announced it will host a free-to-attend webinar for its members on the subject of British procurement on Thursday 18th June at 12.30pm.

The HCA will continue the webinar series to develop the food and drink service within healthcare. Refreshed and updated the HCA will now hold two Online Forums per year.

The next webinar looks at the requirement to buy British:

  • The challenges of getting to 50%+ of British produce supply
  • What each of the four Nations are doing
  • What help our supply partners can give

Last year Steve Reed, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, announced a reform package to boost farmers’ profitability as part of the Plan for Change including a pledge to make at least 50% of food supplied to schools and hospitals to be from British producers.

The move marks a major leap in achieving the Government’s ambition for at least 50% of food supplied into the £5bn public sector catering contracts to be from British producers or those certified to higher environmental standards.
