Abstract
The Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase will be held at the House of Commons on 4 February 2020 to celebrate apprenticeships across England.

Over 200 representatives from hospitality businesses across the UK will attend the fourth annual Hospitality Apprenticeship Showcase. The apprentices will be given the opportunity to network with their local MPs as well as ‘big names’ from the hospitality industry.

Michelle Donelan MP, minister for children and families, and fellow MP Helen Whatley minister for arts, heritage and tourism will deliver keynote speeches.

The event coincides with National Apprenticeship Week and the two MPs will hand out certificates rewarding apprentices for their ‘hard work and dedication’ to the hospitality industry.

The hospitality industry supports 3.2 million jobs, represents ten percent of the economy’s employment and is responsible for five percent of the UK’s GDP.

Keith Knowles, chairman of the Perceptions Group who organise the event, said: “Hospitality is utterly unique in the UK job market, we have a huge range of diverse opportunities available, from the kitchen, to HR, marketing and finance.

“On top of this, companies within the sector are dedicated to the training and development of their people, uplifting employees and encouraging career progression.

“This is an industry where it is not unusual to start at grass roots on minimum wage and progress to senior management positions – and we can see many examples of successful industry leaders who have done just that. For young people, career progression in this sector can be rapid, with many progressing to a management role within three years.”
