The contract, valued at approximately £10m over two years, will see ISS continue to provide food catering services for 32 primary schools across the borough in northeast London, underscoring a 15-year legacy of collaboration with the Consortium.
The contract extension was endorsed at the recent Redbridge Head Teacher Conference, where school leaders commended ISS for some notable advancements over the past year. Headteachers particularly praised ISS’s steadfast commitment to its promises and its innovative approach, exemplified by the successful implementation of the FEED initiative.
FEED was launched to promote healthy eating and enhance student wellbeing in primary schools, introducing a modern approach to school dining with vibrant visual storytelling, featuring friendly characters, seasonal murals and interactive food journey displays. The concept makes nutritious meals engaging and accessible in primary schools. At Redbridge, this has led to a notable increase in meal uptake, while improving student satisfaction and ensuring positive lunchtime atmosphere.
Alastair Dale, managing director of education at ISS UK & Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to continue our journey with Redbridge primary schools and this extension is a testament to the trust and collaboration we’ve built over the years.
“By supporting healthier children through good nutrition and promoting healthy habits in a new, exciting way through our FEED initiative, we’re committed to delivering excellence and innovation in everything we do.”
Gary Jelks, school business leader at Redbridge Consortium, added: “We are delighted to extend our vital partnership with ISS, a collaboration that plays a pivotal role in creating enriching environments where our students thrive.
“ISS’s innovative solutions, particularly their dedication to providing nutritious school meals, helps to ensure that our primary schools offer supportive settings that enhance learning and support wellbeing. We are excited to continue this journey together.”
