Abstract
Ten young people, who are campaigning with Magic Breakfast, have called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ensure that no child is too hungry to learn.

They are asking that the Department for Education funds free school breakfast provision in primary and special educational need schools in areas hardest hit by the cost of living rise.

The youth campaigners are calling on the Prime Minister to boost spending on school breakfast by £75m a year as this will enable up to 893,000 children in areas of high disadvantage to access a free school breakfast.

A spokesperson said: “2.5 million children in the UK are at risk of starting the day too hungry to learn. Chancellor Rishi Sunak's latest budget won't solve this hunger crisis. Further action is needed. The rising cost of living is pushing more families into poverty. As Magic Breakfast Youth Campaigners, we've seen how hunger harms children. We want the best learning, health and life chances for every child.

“It doesn't need to be this way. With the right help at the start of the school day, free school breakfast is already boosting hundreds of thousands of children's learning, health and future prospects. Yet only one in four of the schools in the most disadvantaged areas gets the Government funding needed to offer this vital support to children.”

The ten young campaigners are asking people to co-sign their letter to the Prime Minister, which calls on the Government to provide breakfasts for young people. To sign the letter, visit here.
