Against strong competition from more than 130 family businesses across the region, Mellors took home the Manufacturing of the Year accolade as well as the North West Family Business of the Year.
The awards brought together over 400 guests to celebrate the innovation, resilience and success of family-owned businesses from across the North West.
The Manufacturing of the Year trophy recognised Mellors passion for creating fresh food including sandwiches and soups to home bakes and nutritious school meals. The business has continued to grow and innovate through initiatives including the Tuk Truck, Crafted by Mellors range, Little Beekeepers project.
Mellors was crowned overall North West Family Business of the Year 2026 — a meaningful achievement following the company’s 30-year anniversary celebrations last year.
Tony Trainor, Mellors chief executive, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won two awards at the North West Family Business Awards. We’re incredibly proud of our family heritage, and the family-focused values and culture that continue to shape everything we do.
“Being family-owned is more than just part of our story — it influences how we work, how we support one another and how we care for our clients, customers and teams every single day, as we continue to fuel minds and nourish futures.”
More than 2,000 Mellors team members serve over 130,000 freshly prepared meals every day across schools and colleges, helping to fuel minds and nourish futures.
