Abstract
Vicky Ford, Minister for Children and Families, wrote to head teachers of schools and academies asking them to get involved with LACA’s National School Meals Week.

NSMW is running from 9-13 November 2020 and it is aiming to encourage children to return to eating a hot meal that meets nutritional standards.

LACA believe the campaign has come at an important time with Wales coming out of lockdown and England about to enter a new phase of restrictions.

LACA are continuing to hear that parents are still sending their children into school with a packed lunch, despite the importance of a nutritious hot meal at lunchtime.

The five events will give school caterers the opportunity to highlight the benefits of eating a hot school meal but also it will bring some excitement to children in the dining room.

The ‘Thank You Key Worker’ promotion will give everyone the chance to praise school caterers who continued to feed children throughout the pandemic. Love British Food, Food for Life and Pro Veg are supporting NSMW 2020.

Don’t forget NSMW 2020 is offering some flexibility on the dates, if it is not possible for you to run the campaign during the main week, resources and be supplied blank to enter your own dates.
