Abstract
The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation has described the Government’s decision to ignore the one in three people living with allergies in the NHS Ten-Year Health Plan as a ‘travesty’.

Through the Plan for Change, the Government is shifting the focus from treatment to prevention and creating a more active state – that works with partners to make the healthy choice the easy choice – and a transition of the NHS from a sickness service to a prevention service.

Tanya and Nadim Ednan-Laperouse OBEs, founders of The Natasha Allergy Foundation commented: “While we welcome the NHS Ten-Year Health Plan and acknowledge the competing challenges the NHS currently faces, the Government’s decision to ignore the one in three, that’s 20 million people in the UK living with allergies, is a travesty.

“For the past two decades, experts, politicians and the public have been warned that lives in this country are being detrimentally affected and put at risk by poor NHS allergy care. This is due to a lack of allergy training, expertise and access to timely treatment. In short, people with allergies have been let down by successive Governments again and again.”

The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation has been campaigning for an Allergy Tsar, a champion for people living with allergies since 2021. During that time, the Foundation has met with six Government and opposition ministers.

The LACA ambassadors Tanya & Nadim Ednan-Laperouse added: “Yet despite strong public support for the appointment of an Allergy Tsar, numerous Parliamentary debates, positive meetings with Government Ministers and opposition MPs, today people with allergies have been let down yet again.

“Failing to include allergy in the NHS Ten-Year Health Plan is both short-sighted and regrettable. The Government may be ignoring Allergy, but we will not go away. Natasha’s Foundation will continue to campaign for an Allergy Tsar and be a voice for people living with allergies.”

Tanya and Nadim encouraged people to write or tag their MP to tell them what you need from your NHS. They concluded ‘let’s make allergy impossible for them to ignore’.
