Abstract
Prepared food manufacturer Anglia Crown, which supplies NHS hospitals and care homes, is currently involved in a major recruitment campaign to meet the increased demand for its food.

It has already added 40 new staff members to its workforce, some of whom had recently been made redundant in other parts of the catering industry following the impact of the coronavirus.

Paul Howell, director for Anglia Crown, said the company expected to continue employing more staff over the coming weeks in production, picking, packing and distribution.

“These are challenging times for our customers, and we are committed to supporting them,” he said.

“Following an appeal on the BBC for workers to join us, we were inundated with CVs, but we need to keep our recruitment levels high to ensure that we continue to provide the quality and quantity of meals that is required of us.

“It’s also important for us to play our part in offering job security to those recently affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.”

He added that where other businesses had seen falling demand, Anglia Crown was experiencing the opposite, supplying and supporting some of the new field hospitals including NHS Nightingale Birmingham and NHS Nightingale Cardiff.

In addition to its work supporting the NHS patients and staff across the UK, it has also expanded to include supplying meals to the elderly and vulnerable in the care sector who are currently in isolation.
