Varndean College in Brighton is the latest further education establishment to specify the independent contract caterer Pabulum for its catering - after awarding them with a five year contract worth £1 million. Pabulum was chosen after successfully competing against three other colleges in a 'cook off' in front of students. They were asked to set up stalls in the dining room of the college and present their hot and cold food menus to the students. The caterer, which specialises in providing ethically-sourced contract catering services to the education sector throughout the south of England will establish a new coffee shop serving a 'wide range of affordable coffees' under the terms of the agreement which starts in August. Jonathan Gawthrop, managing director of Pabulum said: "We are absolutely delighted to have won the catering contract with Varndean College. It is particularly pleasing given that we did so after having first been evaluated by the very people who we will be serving for the next few years."
