Abstract
Pupils of primary schools in Manchester are finding out about “the white stuff” in a fun way.
Nutritionists from Manchester Fayre, the city council's catering service, are visiting schools along with their fun apple mascot Pip, giving children free milk from a milk fountain and talking to them about the benefits of drinking milk. The schools being visited during Milk Week are Cavendish Community Primary in West Didsbury, St Wilfrid's C of E Aided Primary in Northenden, St Wilfrid's C of E Junior & Infants in Newton Heath, Temple Primary in Cheetham and Birchfields Primary in Fallowfield. Councillor Bernard Priest, Manchester City Council's Executive Member whose responsibilities include school meals services, said: "Milk is a very important source of nutrition for children and learning about it in a fun way will help them understand just how good for them it is."
