Public sector catering industry leaders plan joint action to advance aims
Abstract
The Public Sector Catering magazine’s top 20 ‘most influential’ people have set the agenda for the year ahead following a roundtable debate at the House of Commons.

The industry umbrella group the Public Sector Catering Alliance, under the new leadership of chair Anita Brown, will now take the ideas forward through 2026.

The action includes building on the work started last year to create an All-Party Parliamentary Group for Public Sector Food, lobbying harder to have the PSC Alliance included on Government and industry groups dedicated to the food system, and pushing the UK Government and the devolved nations to join the international School Meals coalition.

Sharon Hodgson MP, gave her backing to the idea of an APPG for the industry and committed herself to be the public sector’s champion in Government.

Outgoing PSC Alliance chair Jayne Jones said: “This is voluntary stuff that we do because we're passionate and we care about the industry. So your commitment, your advice, and your tenacity has not gone unrecognised,” she said.

Urging them to keep driving their agenda forward she added, “This year more than ever, we need to be bolder, we need to be louder, and we need to be more relentless in pushing for it.”

And new PSC Alliance chair Anita Brown added: “We need to work collaboratively because there's so much knowledge around this table. We're all so passionate about what we do. What you've all achieved in your own areas and your own businesses, you're influential for a reason. I can't wait to work with you all, you're all magnificent and let's crack on together.”
