Remit celebrates successful food and hospitality training

21st Apr 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Earlier this year in February, training provider Remit, launched programmes for the food and hospitality industry, which the company says have been well-received.
Sharon Linney, who joined Remit after spending 20 years with contract caterer ARAMARK and now heads up Food and Hospitality Services at Remit said: "Staff turnover in the hospitality industry is amongst the highest in the UK and reduction of these rates has to be a priority. Apprenticeships and training will be at the centre of ensuring that we equip tomorrow's employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to sustain and grow this sector." Over half of hospitality businesses lack appropriate chef skills and nearly 60% lack customer training. With the industry needing to recruit about one million people between now and 2017, such a lack of skills will severely affect the sector if nothing is done to resolve the issue. Remit has chosen to address this problem within the hospitality sector by launching Food and Hospitality Services which will specialise in building bespoke and innovative training solutions. Working with a wide range of high profile companies in the hospitality sector as well as small independent organisations, Remit will provide training programs to exclusive restaurants, hotels and healthcare organisations. Linney continued: "We have developed structured apprenticeship and adult training programs with measurable objectives, timescales and progression routes enabling businesses to invest in their employees which is crucial in the current economic climate.' "Remit's vision is to be the number one specialist training provider of choice in the UK food and hospitality services market. The hospitality industry is an industry I have always had a strong personal interest in and I believe Remit is very well positioned to add real value to the sector," commented Rob Foulston, chief executive of Remit.
