Abstract
Cityserve, the school catering division of Birmingham City Council, has announced that is raised a combined total of £1,675 for charity during 2017.

The provider to 70,000 meals in Birmingham held a series of fundraising events during the year, finishing off with a Christmas jumper day.

Other activities included pizza Friday, Macmillan coffee morning, obtascle races and 1,000 ft abseili. All the money raised will go to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Dale Wild, Cityserve’s head of service, said: “It’s been a great year for us for all sorts of reasons, but one of our key aims is to make a difference to our stakeholders - the children and families who are ultimately our customers.

“To see the Cityserve ethos be embraced by our staff, with so many going the extra mile, is great and what we are all about. I’m delighted we’ve managed to raise so much to help Birmingham Children’s Hospital and other great causes and we look forward to more fundraising in 2018.”

Cityserve’s ‘great year’ includes winning the Best Catering Service Team at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards 2017 and the launch of its new Cityserve Select service.

It also hosted three regional finals of the LACA School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) competition.

“It really has been a great year but we’ve got plenty more planned for 2018. We just can’t wait to get cracking,” added Wild.
