The School Chef of the Year regional winners so far

Three winners of LACA’s School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) sponsored by McDougalls’ regional finals have been announced.

Three finals have taken place so far: East of England, South East and London.

 

Each contestant had 90 minutes to prepare four portions of a main course and a dessert suitable for serving to 11-year-olds in school.

 

The East of England winner is Katherine Bridge of HCL and based at Breachwood Green JMI School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

 

She won with a Korean flapjack pork served with steamed bao bun, sweet potato noodles and kimchi rainbow vegetable salad.

 

Her dessert was Jaffa mousse brownie with a piped lace biscuit and a chocolate brownie base with a glazed orange mousse and segmented oranges.

 

The South East winner was Josefine Austin from Hindhead, Surrey and employed by Surrey Commercial Services.

 

Based at Beacon Hill Primary School, her winning dishes were: Swedish meatballs – beef meatballs served with mashed potatoes, carrot and courgette ribbons with a creamy sauce.

 

Her dessert was Pineapple tart served with vanilla crème, sweet pineapple slices and a coconut crumble.

 

The London regional winner was Michelle Creed from Romford.

 

Employed by Havering Education Services, she is based at Broadford Primary School, Romford.

 

Her two winning dishes were a zesty Mexican chicken flatbread with sweet potato and Mexican slaw, followed by a caramelised pineapple sponge with vanilla cream. 

 

The winners will go on to take part in the national finals next year on 7 March in Stratford Upon Avon.
