Abstract
The Scottish government has awarded a total of around £3.5 million worth of grants to 13 food and drink producers across the country.

According to the government, The Food Processing, Marketing & Co-operation grants will give the selected businesses the opportunity to diversify and expand operations.

Awardees included two borders-based food producers- Glenrath Egg Products and Border Meats Limited- who have been awarded grants totaling over £700,000.

The two biggest beneficiaries were Aberdeenshire-based Maxwell Farms Limited, which was awarded over £600,000, and Douglas Laing & Co Ltd., which received £855,430 to put towards construction of a new distillery in Glasgow.

“Scotland’s food and drink industry is a cornerstone of our economy, environment and culture, and the quality of our produce is world renowned,” said Fergus Ewing, Scotland’s rural economy secretary.
