Fish+ (animals, plants and algae from aquatic environments) are often left out of food policy. In Scotland the Good Food Nation act stipulates that the food we eat must be good for people and the environment.
A spokesperson said: “The aim of the panel is to build common ground among diverse stakeholders on how to make fish a key part of the Good Food Nation ambition - increasing Fish+ consumption as part of a healthier and more diverse food culture while at the same time ensuring that fish is being produced sustainably and equitably with high animal welfare.
“Our intention is for this work to help inform both the Good Food Nation policy team and the Marine Directorate, to ensure the panel’s recommendations contribute meaningfully to current and upcoming policy.”
The duo are looking for 15 panelists representing a variety of perspectives, including:
- Diverse producers in terms of scale, geographic region, fishing, harvesting, catching or cultivation methods, and products
- Producer representatives
- Animal welfare representatives
- Environmental and conservation advocates
- People working in nutrition and / or public health
- Retailers and / or food service providers
- Processors
- Social justice advocacy, including workers’ rights
- Interested members of the public
Panelists participating outside of remunerated work will receive a participation fee for their time. You can find more info by visiting: www.fishplus.scot
