Abstract
Are your roast dinners the talk of the town? If so, British Roast Dinner Week (1-7 October) wants you to enter its mystery diner competition to be in with a chance of taking the ‘Best British Roast Dinner’ title.

In the run-up to its week-long celebrations, British Roast Dinner Week, sponsored by Knorr Gravy, is championing one of the nation’s favourite dishes by encouraging operators to nominate themselves for the top title.

Whether it’s a country pub, city hotel or staff canteen, operators simply need to ‘boast their roasts’ by completing the entry form on www.britishroastdinnerweek.co.uk  by Sunday 16 September.
A mystery diner expert will then visit the top five finalists to determine the overall winner.

Sarah Branagan, Knorr category manager for sauces, said: “In this monumental year when we’re celebrating all things British, the ‘Best British Roast Dinner’ crown is the one everyone wants to take home. With more than 80% of consumers having enjoyed a roast dinner out of home in the past three months, and more than half wanting to enjoy them during the week, there’s no doubt that roast dinners are top menu choices.

“Our research shows that consumers’ perfect roast dinner is made up of: three slices of beef, three roast potatoes, two Yorkshire puddings and vegetables with gravy poured on top. We want to know about your traditional dinners, with all the trimmings, and the more unusual roasts. Did you know that 44% of consumers want mashed potatoes with their roast dinners? Our mystery diner expert wants to taste them all.”
