Shire Services GM wins accolade at 2025 British Forces in Business Awards
Abstract
Susan Vuli, general manager at Shire Services, emerged victorious in the Team Leader of The Year category at the recent 2025 British Forces in Business Awards.

The British Forces in Business Awards are the world’s largest celebration of veterans in business, recognising those who have successfully transitioned into high-value civilian roles. Now in its eighth year, the awards shine a spotlight on the leadership, resilience, and skills that former service members bring to the workplace.

Shire Services says Susan's win is a testament to her 'outstanding' leadership in the education catering and cleaning industry. She is an ex-army chef with more than 25 years of experience, who is now working in a civilian role in school meals.

The organisation adds that she has guided Shire Services, part of Shropshire Council, through some of the most challenging periods in public sector catering, while continuing to deliver high-quality services to schools, nurseries, care homes, and further education institutions.

Commenting on her win, Susan said: “I am very proud to announce that I won the category. This is one of my biggest achievements of my career, because it's linked to the very beginning of my career starting out in the army at 17-years-old.

“Without the skills, resilience and ability to work as a team, that was given to me within my time in the army, I don't believe that I would be leading Shire Services today. I still can't quite believe my luck if I was honest, that I have been gifted this award.”

It has been a successful year for Shire Services who picked up two accolades at the 2025 Public Sector Catering Awards. Shire Services won the Marketing Award for the second year in a row as well as winning the Health and Nutrition Award.
