Sodexo’s ambassador Matt Dawson launches new recipe range

18th May 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
Sodexo’s ambassador for health and wellbeing Matt Dawson has launched a new recipe range, ‘Be part of it’ at Thales UK in Crawley, West Sussex.
The foodie teamed up with Sodexo's head of nutrition and dietetics, Wan Mak, executive development chef, Alan Shipman and Sarah O'Leary from central marketing to create the new 'Be part of it' range. The main objectives of 'Be part of it' and its recipe range is to engage with people, to raise awareness of crucial health and wellness messages, encourage balanced diets, and promote the use of fresh ingredients as much as possible. All recipes naturally focus on wellness and nutrition, and use ingredients based on Sodexo Healthwise principles that aim to reduce the levels of fat, salt and sugar. Some examples of this includes; using herbs and spices instead of salt to infuse food with flavour, replacing butter and vegetable oil with olive or rapeseed oil as a healthier alternative, and adding more fresh fruit to desserts to help achieve the Government's recommended '5 a day'. The range of recipes has also been designed to appeal to children and young people at schools, colleges and universities. 'Be part of it' covers all occasions with breakfast recipes and soup, meat, fish, vegetarian and salad dishes, as well as desserts like peppered pineapple and lemon pie. Dawson, who will be visiting schools, colleges, universities, defence and corporate services sites over the coming months, said: "Cooking and eating the right foods at the right times can have amazing effects on both your mental and physical wellbeing. "For instance, we all know eating breakfast sets us up for the day and gives us the fuel to make the rest of the day more productive. It also means we are less hungry during the morning and so are not tempted to eat high sugar, high fat snacks."
