Abstract
Catering solutions specialist Space Catering Equipment has appointed Ian Bidmead as its first commercial director, a new role that has been specifically created to drive the company’s next growth phase.

The Gloucester-based company has grown from a £2m enterprise in its first year to a £12m one in 2011.

In his new role, Bidmead will be charged with consolidating recent business gains and creating further demand for Space’s turnkey approach to catering developments, from across the foodservice sector.

He brings a wealth of commercial experience to the role, having worked for the vending division of Mars Drinks for 11 years, on the sales side for vending solutions specialist Crane Merchandising Systems, and as commercial director IMI Cornelius on the company’s beverage dispensing systems range.

He commented: “This is an important new role for Space and one I’m excited about taking up.

“Although I’ve worked in foodservice before, this is my first real foray into the commercial kitchen and I do feel I can bring fresh insight.  I hope I can round out an already talented senior management team, and help Space get even quicker to where it wants to be.”
