Abstract
A group of hospitality supervisors and managers recently celebrated the completion of their diplomas in hospitality and tourism management with a certificate presentation event at Westminster Kingsway College (WKC).

Recipients were awarded their diplomas by the new chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality, Peter Ducker and Geoff Booth, assistant principal and head of the school of hospitality at Westminster Kingsway College.

Receiving an Institute of Hospitality Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Hospitality and Tourism Management was Ryszard Pedrycz, a training manager at a private members club in central London, and Dan Costin, a night manager at the Royal Automobile Club in London.

Andy Norton, who works for Sodexo as a general manager of retail and logistics, also achieved the Institute of Hospitality Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The Diploma Level 3 course at Westminster Kingsway College has also been delivered as part of the BaxterStorey Leadership Academy that was developed by the company to promote talent within their workforce.

Adriana Tobon works for BaxterStorey and completed the Institute of Hospitality Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Peter Ducker, chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality said: “The Institute of Hospitality is about encouraging education for Hospitality professionals and we are very pleased to see the successes with Westminster Kingsway College today.”

All of the candidates were working while studying but were able to benefit from the flexible learning provided by the College and the online resources and assessments from the Institute of Hospitality. Participants on the programme benefit not only from the College’s excellent resources but also from the online resources (400+ e-Books and 50+ e-Journals) that support the units through the Institute of Hospitality’s Education Membership Scheme.

Louise Jordan, head of hospitality apprenticeships and commercial at Westminster Kingsway College said: “We are really pleased with the successes of the Institute of Hospitality Diploma programmes as they are really dynamic groups of supervisors and managers who all aspire to move their careers upwards and because they come from such a wide range of hospitality backgrounds there is extra value in them being able to share their experiences.

"Westminster Kingsway College has shown that this course represents excellent value for money at a time when investing in people has never been more crucial and there are further programmes planned for next year.”
