Survey finds apple crumble as Britain’s favourite dessert

To mark the return of the Great British Bake Off (13 September) Jack and Beyond personalised cakes carried out a survey on 3,795 Brits to discover their favourite dessert.

The ‘God Tier’ desserts voted for by the British public included apple crumble with 9.5% of the total votes, sticky toffee pudding (9.3%), red velvet cake (7%) and brownies (6.75%). Childhood staple angel cake was voted in the ‘worst tier’ alongside spotted dick and rice pudding.

Victoria sponge, bread & butter pudding, treacle tart, chocolate fudge cake and profiteroles made the ‘top tier’ whereas jam roly poly, Christmas pudding and Swiss role were in the ‘low tier’.
