Abstract
The semi-finalists of the KNORR National Chef of the Year 2008 have now been announced.
Ian Boden, head chef at Limes Restaurant in Derby, Andreas Wingert, senior sous chef at Lucknam Park Hotel in Wiltshire and Brian Canale, head chef at Heritage Portfolio in Edinburgh, have each secured a place in the grand final of the UK's premier chef competition - run by the Craft Guild of Chefs and sponsored by KNORR.
The lucky chefs impressed the judges during the heats held at the Food & Drink Expo in Birmingham earlier this week (8 and 9 April) with their culinary skill and interpretation of the entry criteria.
One more heat is due to take place in Newcastle on May 22. A winner from each heat will be announced on the day, and then the three top scoring competitors from across all heats will make up the eight finalists competing at the Restaurant Show in October. Details of this will be found online at www.unileverfoodsolutions.co.uk at the end of May.
The chosen chefs will then be given four hours to create a four-course meal from a mystery basket of ingredients, with the coveted title and a £10,000 prize up for grabs.
