Two primary schools achieve Knowsley’s silver Healthy Schools accolade
Abstract
St Brigid’s Catholic Primary in Stockbridge Village and Westvale Primary School in Kirkby have both earned the silver award in Knowsley’s Healthy Schools programme, making them the first schools to achieve the status.

The Knowsley Healthy Schools programme was launched in November 2024 with bronze, silver and gold awards in recognition of a schools attainment within the scheme.

Both schools achieved their initial bronze award by implementing the healthy schools menu, introducing ‘swap stations’ to promote healthier packed lunches and providing staff with relevant training.

To secure the silver award, schools adopted the ‘Pledge for a Healthy and Active Future’ that outlines nine commitments aimed at fostering a whole-school approach to promoting healthy eating, physical activity and active travel.

Councillor Christine Bannon, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Health, said: They have shown a real commitment to fostering a whole-school approach to promoting healthy eating, physical activity, and active travel. It was wonderful to see so many pupils and their families celebrating their school’s achievement and supporting the launch of their school’s healthy active future pledge.”
