Abstract
The theme for the ninth UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year competition has been revealed as French gastronomy.

The competition is returning after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

David McKown MBE, director of the competition, said: “We are delighted with the theme and also very excited to reveal that Pierre Koffmann will be our very special guest judge at the Grand Final."

Entrants will have to create and serve three courses in a live restaurant setting featuring a vegetarian starter, QSM lamb, a classic potato dish and a plant-based dessert.

The competition closes on 12 February 2022 and the heats will take place during March. The Grand Final will take place at the 23rd Skills for Chefs Conference.

The winners will benefit from a study tour to France, sponsored by MSK ingredients.
