Vegware joins forces with BBIA to host bioeconomy webinar
Abstract
Edinburgh-based packaging company Vegware in partnership with the Biodegradable Industries Association (BBIA) will be hosting a webinar titled ‘What is the bioeconomy and why should you care?’ on Thursday 25th April at 2.30pm.

The webinar aims to explore the fundamentals of the bioeconomy and its significance in today’s world. The duo believe at our present consumption rate, by 2030 we will need two planets to meet both our resource needs and absorb society’s waste.

Dr Jen Vanderhoven, chief operating officer at the BBIA, will provide insights into the bioeconomy's principles, applications and benefits. Attendees can expect to gain an understanding of:

  • What exactly is the bioeconomy and why is it important?
  • The many benefits of a bioeconomy
  • What are biobased and biodegradable materials?
  • The difference between biodegradable and compostable
  • What opportunities lie ahead in the bioeconomy landscape?

Kelly Falconer, head of marketing at Vegware, said: “Without knowing the term bioeconomy, so many of us already value it – seeking nature’s solutions, moving away from finite materials in favour of plant-based and compostable alternatives. Through this webinar, we aim to arm participants with the knowledge and insights to embrace bio-based solutions and drive positive change.”
