Abstract
Vale of Glamorgan Council says it will be the first Welsh local authority to implement a ban on unhealthy food adverts in certain public spaces, it was reported by BBC News.
The new regulations, which come into effect from March 2026, will place restrictions on where retailers can display junk food in their shops and their websites. High fat, sugar and salt products include foods such as chocolate, confectionary, cakes, biscuits, puddings, savoury snacks, fried foods and sugar sweetened drinks.
Vale of Glamorgan councillor Rhiannon Birch told BBC News: "We want to see that those people are better informed, better able to make choices and are not having these adverts thrown at them all the time.”
