Westminster Conference to explore tacking obesity prevention
Abstract
The Westminster Food and Nutrition Forum (WFNF) policy conference, taking place on Wednesday 27th March 2024, will examine next steps for tackling obesity prevention and care in England, looking at policy developments, options going forward as well as the implications for stakeholders and population health.

Delegates will assess priorities for supporting weight management and options for personalised care, evaluating key issues for improving public health and ensuring the safe delivery of treatment for adults and children.

The conference chairs are both vice chairs of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Obesity: Baroness Jenkin of Kennington and Yasmin Qureshi MP. The keynote sessions include:

  • Professor Paul Gately, Professor of Exercise and Obesity, Leeds Beckett University
  • Dr Parth Patel, Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Public Policy Research
  • Professor John Wilding, Professor of Medicine and Honorary Consultant Physician, University of Liverpool
  • A senior speaker confirmed from the Food and Drink Federation
