Abstract
The winner of the London's Flying Chef challenge has been revealed.
Penny Menzel from Berry Bros & Rudd won with her creation of 'Figgy Pickled Smokin' Duck'. Menzel's winning creation, which featured sweet fig, smokey duck, shallots and rocket on multigrain bloomer, is due to go onto the London's Flying Chef menu from October for 3 months. To celebrate Menzel's winning sandwich, London's Flying Chef will give 15% off any orders in October that include the sandwich platter. Just mention 'Figgy Pickled Smokin' Duck' when ordering. The runners up were: Polly Russell-Jones from Billington Cartmell with her 'Simply Summer Chicken' sarnie, Lucy Downes from the London Stock Exchange with her vegetarian 'I Love Lucy,' Sophie Rudd from Logicalis with 'Crab Fusion and finally Gill Gutteridge from City of London Corporation with her Sushi Sarnie. Jo Wassell commercial director of London's Flying Chef, said: "The overall standard of entries was extremely high. There was a good sense of flavour combinations and a good understanding of ingredients in all the final entries. It really shows how much of a foodie nation we have become and that the days of suffering dull sandwiches at working lunches should well and truly be over!" Entrants were expected to create a sandwich along with a name. Flying Chef operates its business catering in London and Manchester and is part of The Crown Group, an independently owned company.
